Touch dry in four hours” is a claim that has to be proven, and drying is not one event but a sequence: set-to-touch, tack-free, dry-to-touch, dry-hard and dry-through. The drying time recorder captures all of them in a single unattended run.

The track it leaves changes character as the film cures — continuous flow, then tearing, then a light score, then no mark — and the position of each transition converts directly to elapsed time. 
Multiple channels allow several formulations to be compared in the same environment, which matters because drying is strongly affected by temperature and humidity.
