Full specifications for the lab product:
The Static and Dynamic Balancing Apparatus is a precision-engineered laboratory trainer designed to demonstrate the principles of balancing rotating masses in mechanical systems. The apparatus enables students to study the effects of mass imbalance and perform practical experiments on both static and dynamic balancing of rotating shafts, providing a clear understanding of vibration control and rotor balancing techniques used in mechanical engineering and industrial machinery.
The apparatus consists of a stainless steel rotating shaft mounted within a rigid rectangular frame. Four precision-machined balancing blocks with adjustable clamping arrangements are supplied to create different balancing conditions. During static balancing experiments, each block is individually positioned on the shaft, and its relative weight is determined using a cord, container, and calibrated steel ball system. For dynamic balancing, students determine the angular and axial positions of the balancing masses by constructing a moment polygon before mounting the blocks on the rotating shaft.
The shaft is driven by a variable-speed electric motor, allowing students to observe the effects of unbalanced rotating masses and verify balancing conditions under actual operating conditions. The apparatus is equipped with longitudinal and angular scales for accurate positioning of balancing masses and is suspended using chains to facilitate dynamic balancing experiments.
Designed for engineering colleges, universities, polytechnic institutes, TVET centres, and industrial training laboratories, the apparatus provides valuable practical experience in machine dynamics, vibration analysis, and rotating machinery maintenance.
The apparatus is designed for conducting both static and dynamic balancing experiments on rotating mass systems. It features a precision stainless steel shaft, adjustable balancing masses, variable-speed motor drive, angular and longitudinal measuring scales, suspended frame arrangement for dynamic balancing, and a robust painted steel structure for long-term laboratory use. The equipment offers smooth operation, accurate measurements, and excellent durability for repeated educational applications.
