The Double Stage Air Compressor Test Rig is a comprehensive laboratory training system designed to study the performance characteristics and operating principles of a two-stage reciprocating air compressor. It enables students to perform practical experiments on air compression, thermodynamic processes, compressor efficiency, and performance evaluation.
The system consists of a double-stage, double-cylinder reciprocating air compressor driven by a 2 HP electric motor through a belt drive. The compressor discharge is connected to a 150-litre air receiver, while the suction side is connected to a separate air tank fitted with a calibrated orifice meter and water manometer for accurate airflow measurement. An adjustable airflow control valve regulates the suction flow to facilitate various operating conditions.
Temperature measurements at different stages of compression are obtained using precision RTD PT-100 sensors, while pressure gauges monitor both intermediate and final delivery pressures. The rig also incorporates an RPM measurement system using a proximity sensor and digital indicator, allowing complete performance analysis during experimentation.
Designed for engineering laboratories and technical training institutes, the test rig provides hands-on experience in compressor operation, efficiency calculations, and thermodynamic analysis.
