Floor standing apparatus for demonstrating and measuring liquid film mass transfer coefficients. Oxygen is absorbed from air into deoxygenated water, and the two columns needed for that work stand side by side in a painted steel framework: a wetted wall column of glass, 900mm long and 32mm internal diameter, and a deoxygenating column of clear acrylic, 1570mm long and 26mm internal diameter. The wetted wall column is gimbal mounted so it can be set accurately vertical.

Water is the working medium throughout, held in a storage tank at the rear of the unit, with two pumps at the base feeding the deoxygenator and the absorption column. An air pump, flow meters, pump controls and an oxygen analyser are grouped in a console beside the columns. Two probe housings between the columns carry the oxygen meter probes, which read the oxygen content of the water entering and leaving the absorption column.
