GCE Practical Tender Apparatus for Sri Lanka Bangladesh Labs
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh buy school laboratory apparatus in a similar way and on a similar lane. Both examine practical science at two levels, both procure largely through ministry and zonal tenders fulfilled by local importers, and both receive consignments from India on a short sea route that makes consolidated shipments economic. For a trading company pricing a schedule in Colombo or Dhaka, the useful question is not who manufactures the apparatus but who will quote the schedule line by line and ship it certified and on time.
Two syllabuses, one apparatus list
Sri Lankan schools prepare candidates for G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level, with practical work in physics, chemistry and biology that follows the familiar Commonwealth pattern: measurement, electricity, optics, heat, titration, qualitative analysis and microscopy. Bangladesh works to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus, with practical assessment at SSC and HSC level covering much the same ground. The apparatus lists therefore overlap heavily, and a supplier quoting both markets is quoting one list with different quantities. The difference is in scale and timing: Bangladeshi orders are often larger and tied to national programmes, Sri Lankan orders more often zonal and tied to a school year, which affects delivery scheduling more than it affects specification.
Physics, which dominates both schedules
The A/L and HSC physics practicals need measurement instruments in class quantities — metre rules, vernier callipers, micrometer screw gauges, spherometers, spring balances and standard masses — alongside the mechanics apparatus in our mechanics labware range for pendulum, pulley and inclined plane work. Electricity is the longest section: ammeters, voltmeters, galvanometers, rheostats, resistance boxes, cells and holders, plug keys, jockeys, metre bridges and potentiometers, listed under electricity and cell lab. Optics calls for lenses, mirrors, glass blocks, prisms and optical pins from the optics range, and both syllabuses treat waves seriously, which means tuning forks, resonance tubes, sonometers and ripple tanks from our sound and waves range. Electrostatics and magnetism complete it, with the gold-leaf electroscopes and electrophorus of our electrostatics range and the bar magnets, compasses and solenoids of the magnetism range.
Chemistry and biology
Chemistry schedules in both countries are glassware-led, with titration apparatus in quantity because volumetric analysis carries marks at both levels. Specify borosilicate 3.3 for heated items, soda-lime for storage, and Class B volumetric ware unless the schedule asks for Class A; our glassware range carries both. Around it sit bunsen burners with fittings to match the gas supply, tripods and gauzes, retort stands with bosses and clamps, spotting tiles, evaporating basins, balances and reagent bottles from the chemistry range, with pH meters, colorimeters and conductivity meters where the A/L or HSC syllabus extends into instrumental work — those sit in analytical instruments. Biology is microscope-led: compound microscopes with LED illumination, prepared slides, dissecting sets and trays from our microscopes and slides range, supported by preserved specimens, anatomy models and the botany models that teach plant structure better than any chart.
Shipping to Colombo and Chattogram
Both markets sit on a short lane from India, which is their practical advantage. Colombo is among the fastest destinations from Nhava Sheva, often under two weeks, and Chattogram is comparable, so a tender with a tight delivery date is more achievable here than anywhere else we ship. Neither country operates the pre-export conformity inspection used in Kenya, Tanzania or Nigeria; documentation is the standard set of commercial invoice, packing list written to line item, certificate of origin and bill of lading, with any product certificate the schedule names. Bangladesh applies its own import procedures through the authorised dealer bank and LC terms are common, so it helps to tell us at quotation stage whether payment will be by letter of credit, since that affects documentation rather than price. Lead time to plan on is four to six weeks manufacturing plus two to three weeks at sea.
Working with us as the importer
We manufacture in Ambala Cantt and supply importers, distributors and trading companies — we quote to you, not against you, and we do not bid for the tenders our customers are bidding for. Send the schedule and you get a quotation that follows your line numbering, with a product code and specification against each item and any proposed equivalent marked rather than substituted quietly. Datasheets are available per product for attachment to a technical bid, neutral packing is available where the end client requires it, and a mixed physics, chemistry and biology order ships as one consignment with a single packing list so acceptance can be checked in one pass. For vocational and technical institutes, the same applies to our TVET range.
Frequently asked questions
Do you sell directly to schools in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh? No. We supply the importer or trading company serving them, and we quote to you rather than competing with you. How fast can you deliver to Colombo? Four to six weeks manufacturing plus roughly two weeks at sea, which makes Colombo one of our quickest destinations. Do you handle letter of credit terms? Yes, and telling us at quotation stage lets us prepare documents to the LC requirements rather than reissuing them later. Can you quote in the wording of our schedule? Yes, line by line in your order and your terminology. Is any pre-shipment certificate needed? Not of the PVoC type used in East Africa, though we issue any certificate your schedule names. Can you supply complete laboratory sets? Yes, including furniture and installation for new laboratories under turnkey projects. Do you provide datasheets for the technical bid? One per product, with specification, code and photograph.
For structuring a schedule, see our department-wise specification guide, and for the consumables half the tender checklist. Send your schedule, destination port and closing date to our export team for a line-by-line quotation.
Specifying a laboratory or preparing a tender?
Send us your syllabus, scope or BOQ. We will build the item list with the grades, standards and calibration requirements stated against each line, so the quotation you receive is comparable.
Bulk supply and tender enquiries
Everything in this guide is manufactured in our own unit and supplied in bulk to schools, colleges, contractors and government tenders in over 80 countries. Browse the range, or send us a BOQ and we will quote against it line by line.
